The Anaheim Police Department announced that 33-years-old ALBERT FRANK ABAD JR. (pictured), turned himself in after he was seen in a distressing video kicking, slapping, and punching a dog unable to dial 911.
The abuse inflicted on the furbaby, an all-black Goldendoodle named Steeler, took place at Gateway Apartment and was captured by a doorbell camera. The video shows ABAD chasing Steeler down a hallway, then punching and kicking him and dragging him away before disappearing from sight.
Police said in a news release that on Thursday, September 15, 2022, several sources delivered the footage and detectives from the Anaheim PD Criminal Investigations Detail began investigating. Detectives were able to identify the abuser as ABAD and working with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, obtained a felony arrest warrant for him.
Meanwhile, on the night of Wednesday, September 21, 2022, ABAD surrendered Steeler at a veterinarian clinic where staff recognized him and the furbaby from Anaheim Police Department’s social media posts and media coverage. Staff alerted police and officers went to pick up the VOICELESS VICTIM.
Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer told KABC: “He definitely soaked up some love from a lot of our employees here in the building. He was a youthful, somewhat energetic dog, but he wasn't necessarily bounding with energy.”
Steeler is now in the care of veterinarians at Orange County Animal Care and will remain through the duration of the case.
ABAD was taken into custody on Thursday, September 22, 2022, and released after posting a $15,000 bail.
I wonder, if the dog had been a child, would ABAD still be out on bail?
