BARBARA A. WIBLE, founder of Canine Lifeline, faces charges - Dead dogs found in two different homes

- Ohio, USA -

On June 2, 2023, the Parma Police Department responded to a welfare check at a home on West Ridgewood Drive in Cuyahoga County after an Amazon driver reported seeing several packages that were pilling up.

Officers found 68-year-old BARBARA A. WIBLE on the floor but moving. WIBLE is the founder of Canine Lifeline, Inc., a nonprofit animal rescue. The organization's Facebook page appears to have been deleted or deactivated.

WIBLE told officers she wasn't sure how long she was on the floor but guessed she had fallen down. WIBLE was taken to University Hospitals Parma Medical Center for treatment.

Additionally, at the residence, officers found thirty-six dogs. Twelve of them were sadly deceased and twenty-four were alive. Parma Animal Control was then called in. Three of the twenty-four live dogs were taken to an emergency veterinary clinic but sadly, two of them were euthanized and the other one survived. The remaining twenty-two dogs were taken to the Parma Animal Shelter for rehabilitation.

Parma Police issued an arrest warrant for WIBLE with cruelty to animals, a fifth-degree felony.

Additional charges may be forthcoming once they are reviewed by a Cuyahoga County grand jury.

Later on in the evening, Parma police notified the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

Acting on this information, on Friday, June 16, 2023, investigators with the Portage Animal Protective League executed a search warrant on a Mantua home, also owned by WIBLE.

Investigators discovered a total of a hundred and forty-six (146) dead dogs.

In a press release, the Portage Animal Protective League said the dogs were “in varying stages of decay”. The release goes on to say: “No dogs were found alive. Many of the dogs were found confined within their crates.”

The agency advised that necropsies will be performed to determine the cause of death of the Voiceless Victims.

Portage Animal Protective League said this investigation is still active and no other details will be released at this time. The organization encourages anyone with knowledge or details about this investigation to email Humane Agent Holly Ebner. Thank you!

Bless all these precious souls. It is a crime that these souls were not checked on by authorities. We must do better.
