BERNANRD WALLACE arrested and forty dogs removed from his property

- Georgia, USA -

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office announced that on December 8, 2024, 52-year-old BERNARD WALLACE (pictured), was arrested in connection with a significant animal cruelty case spanning Crawford and Johnson counties.

The day after the arrest, multiple agencies partnered with the sheriff’s office to remove forty dogs from WALLACE’s property on Robert Powell Road.

The sheriff’s office said in a press release that due to the dogs’ “deplorable living conditions and urgent health concerns” they were all taken to an undisclosed Animal Rescue and Care Unit where they will receive necessary medical treatment and care.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation, which began in October 2024, “has uncovered evidence of additional animals being held under similar conditions in multiple counties across Georgia.”

WALLACE was charged with twenty-five (25) counts of animal cruelty, with other charges pending. The sheriff’s office said WALLACE’s arrest was only one step in stopping a larger problem in the community.

As stated in the press release, “Animal cruelty is a serious and intolerable offense that reflects deep depravity and a disregard for the well-being of innocent creatures.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Captain Angie Coleman or Investigator Randy Sumner at (478) - 864 - 4006. Thank you!
