BLAKE WILLIAM MILES arrested in connection with the death of an innocent cat

- Florida, USA -

The search for a suspected cat murderer in Springfield neighborhood has come to an end with the arrest of 35-years-old BLAKE WILLIAM MILES (pictured).

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that beginning mid-November, deputies began receiving phone calls reporting missing and/or deceased cats, and over the course of a couple of weeks, officers assigned in the Springfield area of Zone 1 responded to multiple calls for service. “As a result of the complaints, and seeing a pattern developing in the area, officers immediately began canvassing the known areas of the reported incidents attempting to put a name to the face of the potential suspect,” stated the release.

The sheriff’s office explained that “Several members of the local community notified the sheriff’s office with possible information on the suspect and social media posts related the incidents were posted by citizens as well.” Deputies eventually identified MILES as the suspect and an arrest warrant was sought.

MILES was located on Sunday, November 27, 2022, and taken into custody. He is charged with a third-degree felony animal cruelty for the death of an innocent cat named Ashi, that took place on November 12, 2022.

MILES violently removed Ashi from the family home front porch, wrestled the furbaby to the ground, and then brought Ashi to a location where he placed Ashi into a tarp that was laying on the ground. Since then, Ashi has not been seen and is presumed dead.

Ashi’s guardian, Heather Golden, briefly came face-to-face with MILES and was able to draw a sketch.

News4Jax reports that resident Chris Waterman had been following a conversation on a local Facebook group and saw the drawn sketch. He said: “I had a pretty good idea of what he looked like, and, you know, some other distinguishing features, the mustache, the hat and things like that.”

Mr. Waterman explained that upon witnessing himself someone who appeared to be the same man attempting to lure a cat over, he stepped in. He told News4Jax: “I ran downstairs and grabbed my baseball bat, just as a precaution, and waited to see if he was going to act any further. And then, when he started coaxing the cat was, when I kind of sprang into action and approached him with a baseball bat.” According to Mr. Waterman, MILES quickly walked away. He then gave MILES’ description to the authorities.

According to News4Jax, neighbors said the bodies of two of the missing cats were recently found in a nearby dumpster, one of them named Chris. “It was not immediately known if the death of either of those cats is the case that Miles is charged in connection with,” reports the news agency.

After MILES’ arrest, Golden told News4Jax: “JSO went really hard at this. I feel like the neighborhood coming together and giving them the information with the wanted posters, we made a real push to help them get this done.”

MILES is in Duval County Jail also on one misdemeanor count of petit theft.

The filthy murderer is due in court on December 20, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.

The sheriff’s office advised that deputies continue to follow-up other similar reported cases in the area, as they work to identify if the suspect is the same or if there could be others involved.

Cat parents, PLEASE, do not allow your cats to roam free in the streets or to be UNSUPERVISED in your porch or in your yard. If you decide to bring a furbaby into your family, be prepared to fully protect them like you would with a human baby!!!!

Don’t let a safe neighborhood fool you and don’t trust a cat-friendly community because EVIL TRAVELS!
