On November 19, Hardin County Sheriff’s deputies and Animal Control officers went to a trailer in Elizabethtown that 50-years-old CHARLES ERIC SKAGGS (pictured below) was renting.
Authorities said SKAGGS destroyed the entire trailer beyond repair and neglected multiple animals to the point of death.
A complaint warrant issued November 4, stated that the trailer was covered in mounds of garbage and animal feces.
The News-Enterprise reports that SKAGGS left multiple cats and dogs in dirty cages leaving them to die in their own feces.
As the warrant stated, there were “cages upon cages in the home filled with inches of feces and several dead animals.”
SKAGGS was charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and first-degree criminal mischief.
He was booked at the Hardin County Detention Center.
According to online records, SKAGGS is still in custody in lieu of $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 3, 2021, at 1:15 p.m.
The second-degree cruelty to animals charge is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by 90 days to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $500.
