An innocent dog was murdered by 39-years-old CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL MATTHEWS (pictured below) and her death was also violated by a disgraceful judge who sentenced MATTHEWS to only 18 weeks behind bars.
On November 1, Hull Magistrates Court heard that MATTHEWS killed his girlfriend’s dog, a Lhasa Apso crossbreed named Sasha. MATTHEWS admitted to picking up and throwing Sasha to the arm of a couch after she had pooed inside the girlfriend’s home on Wellstead Street.
MATTHEWS claimed to have been having a “bad day” and became angry after Sasha pooed and had been “causing him trouble.”
On September 10, 2021, MATTHEWS had pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
Reportedly, MATTHEWS had not confessed to his girlfriend what he did to Sasha and came clean to the court first.
MATTHEW was also banned “from looking after animals for an indefinite period and fined £240 in costs and fines”, reports HullLive.
A representative of the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Philip Brown, said that suspicious handling of Sasha had been raised by the veterinarian to whom MATTHEWS and his girlfriend took Sasha when she was deceased.
MATTHEWS and his girlfriend claimed Sasha was alive when they left the home and that the furbaby had suffered an unspecified accident and collapsed in the yard of the girlfriend’s home.
A necropsy determined that Sasha had suffered significant blunt force trauma to the left side of her head and face, bruising to the nose and mouth, bloodshot redness in the whites of her eyes and lacerations to the surface of her liver. The injuries that Sasha sustained led to the suspicion that abuse inflicted on her had taken place over an extended period of time and that it would not have been possible for the injuries to have been caused in an accident.
I said it before and I will say it again, judges who hand down lenient sentences to animal abusers are just as guilty of animal cruelty! Not only that, but they also effectively send the wrong message that animal cruelty is tolerated and blatantly disregard the lives of the VOICELESS VICTIMS!
