CODY THERON MCCALL arrested for shooting his neighbor’s dog

Updated: Feb 9, 2021

- Texas, USA -

On Wednesday, February 3, Wichita County Deputies arrested CODY THERON MCCALL (pictured below), in connection with an animal cruelty incident that happened on December 16, 2020.

Deputies received a report about a dog who had been shot on Watts Road in Iowa Park.

A man explained to responding deputies that while he was at his parents’ house in the 3000 block of Watts Road, he heard his 4-year-old dog, Kray, whimpering in his neighbor’s yard.

As he went outside to check on Kray, he noticed the furbaby was trying to drag himself with his front legs and also, both his back legs were limp.

The man went over to help Kray when he saw MCCALL who was coming around from the house.

MCCALL then told the man he had shot Kray.

MCCALL told deputies Kray had repeatedly gone into his yard to go potty.

He claimed that several dogs from the house across the street had come on his property and he would shoot them with a pellet gun to scare them off.

Well, Kray was not only scared off, he was also unnecessarily and cruelly injured!

Kray’s guardian said he had to take him to the Oklahoma State veterinarian hospital in Stillwater where Kray underwent surgery.

All the medical expenses came up to more than $7,000 and deputies were provided with proof of the expenses.

MCCALL said he only shot the dogs with pellets and always aimed for their hind ends.

MCCALL was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals and released the same day after a judge set a $5,000 surety bond.

I have said this before, and I will say it again.

Putting aside that dog parents are responsible for their furbabies, shooting a dog because he/she comes into your yard is NEVER an option.

Call animal control and report the nuisance you experience with your neighbors!

Would you shoot your neighbors’ children if they kept coming into your yard to retrieve their ball?
