On Friday, March 4, members of the Warren Special Operations Unit and United States Marshals arrested 32-years-old DARIUS JULIUS HAMMOND-SWAN (pictured below).
HAMMOND-SWAN is accused of severely abusing a cat and a couple of 3-month-old baby twins.
On February 26, Warren police were called by the Children's Hospital in Detroit after the parents of the twins took them for treatment.
According to detectives, one of the babies had fluid on both sides of the brain and the other had a skull fracture.
The abuse allegedly took place at the Extended Stay Hotel in Warren.
Police said that both babies also had indications of past physical abuse.
Both infants are expected to suffer long-term effects from the assault.
At the hotel room, investigators found a cat who had head and face injuries.
Warren Animal Control officers took custody of the furbaby who was taken to a veterinarian for treatment. The veterinarian said the cat showed signs of both old and recent physical abuse.
HAMMOND-SWAN was located and taken into custody in Farmington Hills.
He was arraigned in 37th District Court on one count of cruelty to one animal, two counts of child abuse first degree, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of domestic violence.
Bond was set at $1,000,000 with a GPS tether and a preliminary examination is scheduled for March 22, 2022.
He faces up to life in prison if convicted as charged.
HAMMOND-SWAN’s connection to the victims is unclear.
Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said: “It is especially heinous when the victims of violent crime are defenseless infants and pets. I am relieved that this suspect was quickly taken into custody and no longer poses a threat to the public at large.”

From what I’ve read, his prison sentence might be as dangerous for him as he is the the helpless. Then he has a dark corner in Hell waiting.
