UPDATE: June 11, 2021
I am overjoyed to let you all know that I have received a response regarding the furbaby’s well-being.
The defenseless dog who was severely injured by DAVID EUGENE FIELDS is just a 10-week-old puppy!
Animal Services tell me that her name is Sissy and she is a Hound/Pitbull mix.
I have learned from the email that Animal Services’ staff veterinarian team “helped triage her on scene and in our shelter clinic afterwards. Our local emergency clinic took her overnight the first night to keep her stable and then she was transported back into our clinic's care the next morning. She has a broken jaw and some broken baby teeth but due to the quick action of everyone involved we expect her to make a full recovery. We have a local animal rescue partner that has already agreed to take her in and foster her until she is fully healed and then find her a forever home. The suspect relinquished ownership so she will not be returned to him if or when he gets out of jail. She is super sweet and our entire staff has fallen in love with her.”
~ Original story:
The Longview Police Department wrote in a Facebook post that together with the Longview Animal Services they are investigating a case of animal cruelty.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 9, Longview Police were dispatched to America’s Best Value Inn located at 3100 Estes Parkway about a disturbance in one of the rooms.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with 54-year-old DAVID EUGENE FIELDS (pictured below).
Police say that FIELDS admitted to punishing his dog for going potty on the floor.
Officers then found the furbaby inside the room and who had serious injuries.
A veterinarian told officers that the dog had severe trauma and was taken to Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center for treatment.
FIELDS, of Harmony Hill in Tatum, was arrested and charged with cruelty to an animal with serious bodily injury a 3rd-degree felony.
He was booked into the Gregg County Jail on this charge.
Let’s see now, let’s follow FIELDS’ logic and let’s apply it to him.
What does the law need to do to him now?
Judges, just do it!!!
I will send out a few emails to inquire about the furbaby.
I will post an update if I get a response.
