DAVID VALLE and SHERRY YASIN arrested after remains of three dogs were found in a burning shed

- Connecticut, USA -

On the evening of Tuesday, December 1, Bridgeport emergency services received a call about a fire with heavy black smoke in the 600 block of Wayne Street.

The caller reported that it seemed the fire was in the backyard area and possibly a shed.

After Bridgeport fire crew responded to the address, they were threatened by a man and a woman present on the scene who also began interfering with the crew’s work.

The unit then called in Bridgeport Police.

Mr. Scott Appleby is CEM director of the Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security/Emergency Communications in Bridgeport.

He said that responding officers found 38-year-old DAVID VALLE (pictured below) “visibly upset with the presence of fire units and police on the property.”

He also said that the other subject present, 39-year-old SHERRY YASIN, “began to interfere with police officers and the fire inspector from gaining access to the rear yard area to assess and extinguish the fire.”

Police then noticed two dogs who were “malnourished” and "visibly cold.”

One furbaby was on a back deck “with no water or blankets”, and the other furbaby “was in a cage with feces.”

A further inspection led to the discovery of three burned dogs.

Mr. Appleby said that “the fire and smoke conditions were associated with the burning of the animal bodies.”

The two live dogs are now at the Bridgeport Animal Shelter, but they have not been legally turned over.

DAVID VALLE, of Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, reckless burning, interfering with police/resisting arrest, breach of peace, and threatening.

He was held on $20,000 bond.

SHERRY YASIN, of Kissimmee, Florida, was charged with interfering with police/resisting arrest.

She was released on a promise to appear in court.
