UPDATE: April 9, 2021
The Southeast Sun, reports that RICHARD TIMOTHY LOGAN (pictured below), was arrested on April 8.
According to WTVY, LOGAN has been charged with two MISDEMEANOR counts of animal cruelty.
He was then released from the Ozark police department, pending trial.
As reported by WTVY, LOGAN’S attorney, David Harrison, believes many are misjudging his client and told WTVY: “He is a good veterinarian and people are destroying this man’s reputation. I have instructed Dr. Logan to file a lawsuit against all who have smeared lies on social media. Facebook is not a court of law.”
Facebook is not a court of law but there is a video!!!
~ Original story:
The Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and Ozark Police Department are investigating reports about Dr. RICHARD TIMOTHY LOGAN (pictured below), after a stomach-wrenching video surfaced online showing this filthy male abusing a defenseless cat in an exam room.
LOGAN is a veterinarian at Andrews Avenue Animal Hospital.
The video shows LOGAN punching the cat, slamming her small head into the exam room table and picking her up by her collar before dropping her.
ABC3340 reports that the “person who took the video said in a post she worked at the clinic and could not bear it anymore. She said there was nothing she could do before the video to help and after it did everything to help.”
The several pictures showing the cat bloodied with her little mouth swollen went viral and stoked public outrage.
Dothan Eagle reports that in a statement of Wednesday, April 7, Dale/Geneva County District Attorney Kirke Adams said: “After review, this office advised the Ozark Police Department to contact the Alabama Veterinarian Licensing Board to have a full and joint investigation conducted. This office takes all animal abuse cases seriously and this is no exception. It is my understanding that this video was taken in November but just now released.”
Adams also said: “There is also no truth to the rumor that this video was ever presented to this Office prior to Monday or that this office has refused to prosecute this case. Social media does have a few good uses but the rumors about police and this office are all false.”
Some news outlets have reported that the furbaby has passed away, however, a Facebook post by The Kris Kelly Foundation implies that sweet angel is still alive.
In facts, at some point the post reads: “This poor cat is about 19 years old and just wants to be left alone!!”
The foundation has not disclosed the name of the cat’s mom to protect her privacy.
The Sacramento Bee reports that police said the cat shown in the video, which police say was filmed in November, “is alive and doing better with its owner.”
Let’s make it happen!
