The Horry County Police Department announced the arrest of 25-years-old HENRY MUMFORD (pictured).

In a brief news release the Department said that on Monday, April 4, HCPD Environmental Unit served a search warrant at a home on Kids Lane in Longs.

The search led to the discovery and seizure of four dogs.

The furbabies were found “emaciated and severely dehydrated”, and had no access “to food, water, or adequate shelter”, said police.

The dogs were immediately taken to the Horry County Animal Care Center for emergency veterinary care.

As you can imagine, these poor souls have a long road to recovery ahead and are not available for adoption just yet.

Sadly, the search also led to the discovery of five deceased dogs.

The VOICELESS VICTIMS were removed and the “Humane Society of the United States has generously offered to cover the cost of bone scans for them.”

Police explained that these “scans will provide further evidence to support the animal cruelty case in court.”

While on scene, officials recovered a number of pieces of stolen property. A secondary search warrant was served to continue that element of the investigation, said police.

Police said MUMFORD, of Longs, faces nine counts of felony ill treatment of animals, one count of possession of stolen property more than $2,000, and one count of possession of a stolen firearm.

Online arrest records show that MUMFORD is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center under no bond.

Police encourage people who want to add a furry member to their families, to not wait until the dogs removed from the property recover as many furbabies are at the shelter waiting for their furever home. Thank you!

On an unrelated note, records also show that MUMFORD has faced criminal charges before.

In October 2021, in fact, he was charged after police said found various drugs, weapons and stolen property after serving a search warrant on Kids Lane. On that occasion, police seized 16 grams of crack cocaine, 16 doses of suboxone strips, 22 grams of cocaine, 13 long guns, a crossbow and more than $4,000 in that investigation.
