HIRAM CARSON LEWIS IV, former West Virginia political candidate, arrested for animal cruelty

- West Virginia, USA -

On Tuesday, January 4, 50-years-old HIRAM CARSON LEWIS IV (pictured below), was arrested for animal cruelty.

LEWIS, former candidate for West Virginia attorney general and state Supreme Court, was booked at the Central Regional Jail on charges of cruelty to animals and animal abandonment in Clay County.

Online records show that LEWIS, of Procious, is being held on an $8,800 bail.

WCHS reports that the charges stem from an incident that goes back to 2019, when Mr. David Carpenter found an undernourished mare near the foundation of a flooded house along the Elk River without food or water.

The community came together to take care of her and Mr. Carpenter fed her hay and grain.

Back then Mr. Carpenter had said: “I don't know if it’s been abandoned or not, but she's obviously not been taken good care of until I found her.”

Mr. Carpenter had also said that authorities had not been responsive to his request for help.

At the time, Clay County Sheriff Donny Triplett said he would check the animal himself and The Heart of Phoenix Rescue offered help if local officials wanted it.

When the mare was found, it was unclear who was responsible for her abuse and abandonment.

An update published by WCHS on January 10, 2020, advised that Sheriff Triplett said he would charge HIRAM CARSON LEWIS IV with abandoning an animal and that the mare will be moved to another location until legal questions are resolved.

Although I am not surprised at yet another schmuck abusing, abandoning, & abusing a beautiful soul, this particular putz must be held responsible & punished to the full extent of the law. Since HIRAM CARSON LEWIS felt worthy enough to run for WV AG & their state Supreme Court, this monster should understand that absolutely no one is above the law! Many thanks to David Carpenter for caring for this beautiful horse. Get better beautiful soul.
