Injured dog found abandoned tied to a tree with markings all over his body prompts investigation

- Queensland, Australia -

The RSPCA QLD is reaching out to the public for information after a dog was found abandoned “tied to a tree with puncture injuries to his neck and marker drawings covering his body.”

The nonprofit said in a Facebook post that the furbaby, a large tan male Mastiff cross, was found on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Tovey Park, Parklands Drive, Boronia Heights.

An RSPCA Inspector rescued the dog who is now receiving veterinary care at the RSPCA.

An investigation has been launched but investigators have not yet determined who the dog’s guardian is and how the furbaby became injured.

RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Emma Lagoon said: “As you can imagine, this poor dog is quite scared and is getting all the care he needs right now to hopefully overcome his ordeal and make a full recovery.”

If you have any information about this egregious crime please come forward and speak up for the VOICELESS VICTIM.

Please, contact the RSPCA's 24/7 emergency hotline on 1300 264 625. Thank you!

The discovery of this dog comes just one month after a deceased dog was left tied to a tree a few kilometers away (last picture).

On the morning of Sunday, August 14, 2022, a member of the public who was bird watching found the dog, a male American Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, in Wyampa Road, Bald Hills.

RSPCA Queensland performed a necropsy on the VOICELESS VICTIM. Upon first inspection, it appeared the dog may have died from being tangled around the tree, but veterinary exams have confirmed the dog died from blunt force trauma to the head.
