The ANNA Shelter's Animal Cruelty Division is investigating the shooting of nine dogs, all German Shepherds ranging in age from eight months to five years old, in Crawford County.
In a Facebook post the agency said that the dogs’ guardians were out of town when the shooting happened.
The dogs’ guardian, Angela Humphrey, told Erie News Now: “We went on vacation to Kentucky for a getaway and we came home and found seven of the nine dogs deceased.”
The dogs were found on the late evening of Monday, June 27, at Humphrey’s home in the 2500 block of Reeds Corners Road, near Beaver Center.
Humphrey said she had a dog sitter.
The ANNA Shelter's Animal Cruelty Division explained that “The surviving dogs were triaged and stabilized in Erie. One was transported to a critical care specialist veterinarian in Pittsburgh with three bullets lodged in his shoulder, hip and jaw and will soon be undergoing emergency surgery."
According to The Meadville Tribune, Officer Duckett said that the less-injured dog has been returned to the family and is expected to recover without surgery.
As for the other dog, his/her guardian surrendered him/her to ANNA Shelter because they cannot afford the cost of the surgeries the furbaby needs to save his/her precious life.
Officer Eric Duckett is investigating the murder of the innocent dogs and is reaching out to the public for assistance.

These blessed souls. Animal cruelty is rampant so the lawmakers & judges must make all animal cruelty a felony. These degenerates must spend time in prison not just a fine that they probably never pay. This story does sound strange…hopefully the truth will be reported. RIP PRECIOUS SOULS. Please get better to the blessed souls that survived.
