- Delaware, USA -
On the afternoon of Friday, March 24, 2023, Delaware Animal Services were contacted by the Lewes Police Department after the discovery of a deceased dog.
Police advised that the dog was found “secured to a sledgehammer and thrown into Canary Creek at the 800 block of Pilottown Road.”
The voiceless victim “is described as a male, possible terrier mix, approximately 40 pounds, black and brown in color.” Animal Services said the dog did not have a microchip and had no identification. The agency further said that it is unknown for how long the furbaby was in the water and did not disclose whether a necropsy will be performed.
The Delaware Division of Public Health Office of Animal Welfare’s Delaware Animal Services (DAS) is now reaching out to the public for assistance in hopes of finding whoever is responsible for this heinous act.
If you have any information about this case, please, do the right thing and come forward.
Speak up for the voiceless victim by contacting DAS at (302) - 255 - 4646. Thank you!
