JASMINE A. FREEMAN charged with abandoning three dogs in extreme heat causing one to die

- Illinois, USA -

A grand jury indicted 28-years-old JASMINE A. FREEMAN (pictured below) on one count of aggravated cruelty to an animal, four counts of cruel treatment of an animal, and six counts of animal owner’s duties violation.

Lake & McHenry County Scanner reports that the indictment stated FREEMAN unlawfully tethered multiple dogs on a rope or leash which was shorter than 10 feet long.

FREEMAN is accused of abandoning three dogs over the summer in extreme heat, causing one to die and the others to be injured.

Around August 27, when outside temperatures hit 80-95 degrees, FREEMAN abandoned a male blue nose Pitbull without providing adequate food, water and shelter to the furbaby, inevitably causing his death.

FREEMAN also abandoned a second male Pitbull and a female Pitbull, causing both to suffer injury from the lack of food, water and shelter.

The arrest warrant for FREEMAN was served in late October and carried a $50,000 cash bond.

According to court documents, FREEMAN was released from the Lake County Jail around November 12, after the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office agreed to allow FREEMAN to be released on a personal recognizance bond, which is where a cash deposit does not need to be posted.

FREEMAN, of the 2100 block of Gabriel Avenue Zion, is scheduled to be arraigned on December 1, 2021.

Lake & McHenry County Scanner explained that the most serious charge against FREEMAN, aggravated cruelty to an animal, is a Class 4 felony that carries a prison sentence of 1-3 years if convicted.

Jasmine Freeman, you are a horrible person. To knowingly tether these fur babies in extreme heat is an abomination & I pray you get the book thrown at you! To suffer as these poor souls did would teach you a lesson but it appears humans are never really held responsible for the torture & abuse of animals. RIP beautiful soul. Prayers for the 3 that survived.
