On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, St. Landry Parish Government Investigators arrested 52-years-old JIMMY J. OLIVIER JR.
On Saturday, December 24, 2022, Animal Control Director Spencer Cornette was notified by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office that they received a complaint about a dog who did not have any food or water. Furthermore, it was reported that the furbaby's collar “was secured very tightly around his neck.”
Cornette responded to the address and found a dog running at large on Limestone Road.
According to a news release by the St. Landry Parish Government, Cornett took possession of the dog and took him to the animal control shelter.
A veterinarian was immediately contacted but since the examination of the furbaby wouldn't have been possible before Monday, December 26, 2022, the vet instructed Cornette on how to care for the furbaby in the meantime.
The dog presented bloody, deep lacerations around his neck so Cornette contacted Detective Mark Kidder and sent him pictures of the furbaby's severe injuries.
On December 27, 2022, an arrest warrant was issued for OLIVIER, of Darryl Lane in Port Barre, for one count of cruelty to animals. OLIVIER was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. Online records show that he is no longer in custody.
Jessie Bellard, St. Landry Parish President, said: “We are not taking these offenses lightly. Our investigations department is fully prepared to enforce the animal control ordinances that are in place for our parish.”

Humans are the most worthless pieces of shits, animals deserve so much better. People are so jealous of animals because animals are pure, loving and innocent.
Is this poor dog still alive? Will he be sheltered or fostered? How can I contribute to his vet bill? I love hound dogs
I truly hope that what was stated about taking animal cruelty seriously is not just a good headline, especially since the uncaring putz appears to already be out of jail. He should have been kept in until this poor soul‘s neck is healed then onto to trial. Please take care of this broken spirit. Help him trust again.
