Bristol Tennessee Police Department arrested 30-year-old JOHN DUDLEY JR. (pictured below) after he assaulted a puppy and a woman.
On February 16, police responded to a report of domestic violence.
Upon arrival, a woman told officers that DUDLEY JR. became upset with her puppy, a 5-month-old Great Pyrenees simply because the furbaby went potty into a crate.
DUDLEY JR. pulled the pup out of the crate by the leash at which point the furbaby was understandably frightened.
When DUDLEY JR. tried to put the pup in the tub, the puppy bit him and DUDLEY JR. started punching and kicking the puppy.
When the woman tried to step in, DUDLEY JR. pushed her into the wall.
Then, according to a criminal complaint filed in Sullivan County General Sessions Court, DUDLEY JR. asked the woman if she “wanted some too.”
The woman was able to leave and called 911.
Officers placed DUDLEY JR. under arrest and transported him to Sullivan County Jail.
Police found the puppy who was injured.
Herald Courier reports that the officer reported: “I also observed a large white puppy in the bathtub, it appeared to be soaking wet and was trembling. I observed blood coming from its mouth area, and blood splatters along the wall of the bathroom.”
As stated by police: “The dog was taken to a veterinarian for examination and was found to be suffering from injuries to its jaw and front paw. The dog also appeared to have teeth that were lost or damaged during the assault."
The puppy has since been placed in foster care.
According to the police statement, the following day, DUDLEY JR. went back home and began to argue with the woman.
Police were called again.
The woman told officers that on a prior occasion, DUDLEY JR. had held a knife to her throat, threatened to kill her, and told her he would kill everyone she loved and then kill himself if she left him.
DUDLEY JR. is being held without bail in the Sullivan County jail.
DUDLEY JR. has been charged with cruelty to animals, domestic violence, and after the latest incident he has been further charged with aggravated assault and two counts of violation of a protection order.
He is scheduled to appear in Sullivan County General District Court in Bristol on Wednesday, March 10.
