Following an investigation that the Elko County Sheriff’s Office launched on December 8, 2022, deputies have arrested 42-years-old JON PRESTON HICKOX (pictured), of Ryndon.
According to a news release by the sheriff’s office, anonymous reports alerted deputies to six horses on HICKOX’s property who were being neglected. When deputies responded to the property, they learned that one of the horses was sadly deceased and the others “were in extremely poor condition due to not having food or water for an extended period of time”.
Two horses were in such poor condition that a veterinarian had to euthanize them. Three other horses are currently being cared for by the Elko County Sheriff’s Office staff and are receiving veterinary care.
On HICKOX’s property deputies also discovered and removed three dogs who were found in small wire kennels covered with feces. The kennels did not have any food or water for the dogs.
HICKOX was arrested on January 4, 2023, and charged with nine counts of torturing, injuring, or abandonment of animals. Online records show that is out free after posing bond.

Seriously, what is wrong with these people? Why the cruelty? This bozo ain’t the brightest bulb & cruelty doesn’t require intelligence. Did this ignorant caveman watched as these poor souls fought to stay alive? What punishment would make this arse realize the pain he’s caused? IMHO whatever he is given isn’t long enough. Rest now babies. There’s no pain, fear, lonliness, nor hunger across 🐾🌈💜
