JOSEPH LARUE and DANIELLE LARUE sought by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office

- Oregon, USA -

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said that Josephine County Animal Control Officers received a report about malnourished dogs at the business Pawsitive K9 Solutions on 783 SE Street in Grants Pass.

On September 21, 2022, deputies with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and animal control officers obtained and served a search warrant at the aforementioned facility and “recovered 13 canines all at different levels of malnourishment,” said the sheriff’s office.

The dogs were found in poor living conditions without food or water.

According to a news release by the sheriff’s office, some of the dogs required immediate veterinary care. The living conditions of the animals revealed they had been neglected for some time. The dogs were transported to the Josephine County Animal Shelter and thankfully, they are doing well and are receiving all the care they need and deserve.

The sheriff’s office said that at the time the warrant was executed, the owners/employees of the business were not present but they have been identified.

On September 26, 2022, detectives with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Control Officer’s and Josephine County Code Enforcement executed an additional search warrant at the business’ owner’s residence, located in Selma.

In a new news release the sheriff’s office explained: “During the execution of that warrant, one horse and one rabbit were found deceased. In addition to the deceased animals, sixteen animals including another horse, multiple dogs, cats and chickens were located without food or water also living in poor conditions. All animals located in both search warrants were seized and aid was rendered to the animals as needed.”

At the residence, officials further discovered a small illegal marijuana grow with hundreds of pounds of processed marijuana.

The sheriff’s office said that based on the investigation, it is believed that the suspects for this case have fled the area and are now being sought to face charges.

Although the sheriff’s office did not mention the names of the suspects, Facebook accounts appearing to belong to JOE and DANIELLE LARUE (pictured) list them as owner and co-owner of Pawsitive K9 Solutions respectively.

According to Mail Tribune, Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Turner confirmed charges were filed on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, 2022, against the owners of Pawsitive K9 Solutions, JOSEPH LARUE and DANIELLE LARUE (nee Brown).

The LARUES were each charged with multiple counts of felony second-degree animal neglect, misdemeanor charges of animal abandonment, two felony charges of illegal marijuana cultivation and possession, a misdemeanor charge of water diversion and several charges of theft.

The pair were charged with three misdemeanor charges of theft over $1,000 and one charge of aggravated theft of over $10,000. According to Josephine County Circuit Court records, the victims of theft were owners of dogs rescued from the LARUEs’ business and residence.
