~ Original story:

The owner of Wheaten Hills Kennel, 42-year-old LESLIE GILLESPIE (pictured below), is facing animal cruelty charges after a goat and twelve dogs were removed from her property.

On December 23, animal control deputies seized a goat and seven dogs.

The following day, a search warrant was obtained and executed at GILLESPIE’s residence.

Officers found two dogs who had been described as malnourished.

Three additional dogs were also found in the property who were being kept in “inadequate conditions.”

All five dogs were also removed.

On Friday, January 22, the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division charged GILLESPIE with 26 counts of animal cruelty.

GILLESPIE’s website states: “We breed soft coated Wheaten Terriers, which originated in Ireland. These furry little creatures make the perfect family pet at around 30-40 pounds. Wheatens are generally friendly and playful, and tend to get along well with children and other dogs. We also breed Whoodles, a cross between a Poodle and a Wheaten Terrier. They are about the same size and are intuitive, smart and friendly. Both of these breeds are hypoallergenic.”

According to the website, they “ship our puppies anywhere in the United States.”

Shame on those who purchase animals knowing that our shelters are overflowing with animals who need a furever home.

Our streets are full of strays in need of love and a furever home.

People like you encourage monsters like GILLESPIE to stay in business!!!
