An animal cruelty investigation started in June, conducted by the Waukegan Police Department's Police Animal Control and Neighborhood Policing Unit, resulted in the arrest of 54-year-old LINNEA KOHL (pictured below).
Between June 20 and July 27, animal control officers recovered 74 cats inside KOHL’s home in the 300 block of South Elmwood Avenue in Waukegan.
Among the 74 cats, there were 11 feral ones.
Officials also found 28 dead cats and 1 dead squirrel inside the property.
The living cats were relocated to 12 different shelters or rescue organizations, while the feral cats were relocated to three feral cats locations.
KOHL was arrested Tuesday, August 4, on three counts of aggravated cruelty to an animal and bond was set at $20,000.
Lake & McHenry County Scanner reports that she walked after posting 10% of the bond.
Kohl could face up to 2-5 years in prison for each count she is found guilty.
The accused was scheduled to appear in court on August 7.
I have not found any updates on this case yet.
