- Florida, USA -
On the morning of Tuesday, January 26, 54-year-old LOREN JEAN MCCUTCHEON (pictured below), stopped at the Interstate 95 agricultural inspection station.
Agricultural officers discovered in MCCUTCHEON’s trailer 26 crammed animals:
8 dogs
7 cats
4 horses
3 mini horses
2 donkeys
1 alpaca
1ring-tailed lemur
Officers found that none of the animals had paperwork and MCCUTCHEON had a suspended license.
The Department of Agriculture told Action News Jax that the trailer was so overloaded that one of the donkeys was laying down and two horses were standing over him/her.
Jacksonville.com reports that the donkeys were underweight and emaciated, and one of the donkeys had a severe gash on the neck.
According to the report, the cats and the dogs had no food or water.
The poor animals were forced to ride on wet hay covered in fecal matter and urine, as reported by Jacksonville.com.
Nassau County Animal Services were called in and all the animals were taken to their facility to be examined by veterinarians.
They will remain at the facility until the Department of Agriculture releases them.
MCCUTCHEON, of Dunnellon, was arrested and is facing 10 counts of animal cruelty.
She was also charged with driving with a suspended license.
