The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division say that 44-year-old LORENZO R. DAVIS (pictured below), was arrested on February 25, after a felony arrest warrant for aggravated animal cruelty was obtained on February 19.
DAVIS was charged with one felony count of aggravated cruelty to an animal and two counts of animal cruelty.
The charges refer to an incident that happened on February 18, in the cab of a tractor trailer truck when DAVIS beat an 11-month-old Pitbull with a sheathed knife while traveling through Garrett County.
Investigators say the furbaby was repeatedly struck and as a result he/she sustained large lacerations across his/her body that required treatment by a veterinarian.
The poor soul was then seized by animal control.
The knife used to beat the defenseless dog was discarded by DAVIS alongside the road.
Detectives later recovered a large, sheathed bowie knife at the crime scene.
The Garrett County Republican reports that DAVIS was located on February 25, by Animal Control, along with GCS deputies, while he was operating his tractor trailer on National Pike in Garrett County.
Deputies executed a traffic stop which led to his arrest.
DAVIS was then transported to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
DAVIS, of Sumter, South Carolina, was released on February 26.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 5, 2021.
