Not all animal cruelty cases are straightforward.
Sometimes the responsibility for the death or abuse of an animal goes further than the person who committed the actual crime. People who witness animal cruelty and do not report it are also culpable.
Animal control and law enforcement who receive animal cruelty complaints and do not intervene are just as guilty as the killer or abuser!!!
Well, this is exactly what happened to Tazi, an innocent Pitbull who did not choose to end his life, other parties contributed to his SENSELESS and PREVENTABLE death!!!
News5 reports that back in October 2019, animal control officers with the city of Mobile responded to a property on Richardson Street and found a dog who showed signs of neglect. They took custody of the furbaby who was later adopted by a local rescue.
A few days after this, a second dog was discovered but sadly officials got there too late.
That precious furbaby was Tazi. He was found lifeless, chained underneath the house owned by MARCUS KYLES (pictured below).
Ms. Denise Grier (also pictured below), an animal activist in Mobile, said people in the community had been contacting animal control and alerted them to the property for years dating back to 2017.
Among the callers were people who work and attend the school across the street from the house.
In fact, the photo you see below of Tazi when he was still alive, was taken in April 2019, by a teacher who worked at the middle school next door to KYLES’ house.
Part of Animal Victory’s petition seeking justice for Tazi states: “That's right...teachers and parents drove past this dog, chained in the side yard, viewable from the street that leads to the school. Children walked past this yard on their way to school. Only one teacher spoke for him. She made numerous complaints to animal control and has written documentation of their contact with the dog owner.”
Another section of the petition published by Animalvictory.org reads: “Though animal control was notified of the situation, the dog's despicable owner spun a story about Tazi being a guard dog and no further action was taken. Tazi suffered through the heat, and the cold - without food, without companionship, until the day that he laid down beneath a structure and died.”
The petition also reports: “Though the mayor and animal control agency were contacted, nobody felt that the situation warranted charges...because apparently nobody felt that Tazi mattered enough.”
Ms. Grier told News5: “The fat, all the meat muscles, everything had been used up as he laid there so it was just his hide. He appears to have crawled under the house, still attached to the chain, and died under the house.”
After discovering Tazi, KYLES was issued a citation relating to animal cruelty.
This subhuman was due in court on Wednesday, August 4, to be arraigned but he did not show up.
The judge did not seem to care too much about Tazi’s death.
In fact, instead of issuing a warrant, she is giving the subhuman one more chance to appear and she is sending officers to serve him the court summons in-person.
As reported by News5, “Because of this case and others like it in the city of Mobile, tethering is still legal but there are limitations for how long an animal can be tethered and what kind of leash is used.”
Who else needs to be held accountable for Tazi’s death beside KYLES…?
