MARY CATHERINE PHILLIPS arrested after her dog was found in the street in need of medical treatment

- Florida, USA -

On January 28, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office animal control officers transported an injured dog for treatment from the 20 block of South Jackson Street in Beverly Hills.

According to medical reports, the furbaby was suffering from a limp, a scabbed nose, infected wounds, abscesses in both ears and nails so long they were curling and growing backward.

Upon a veterinary examination, it was determined that the dog’s injuries were the result of neglect.

The veterinarian had to remove both of the dog’s ear canals to remove the tumors inside.

The tumor was successfully defeated.

ACO questioned neighbors and learned that 33-year-old MARY CATHERINE PHILLPS (pictured below), was the dog’s guardian.

On February 5, ACO finally questioned PHILLIPS.

She told officers that she had rescued the dog four years ago but could not afford to treat the dog’s pre-existing ailments, like tumors.

The same day, PHILLIPS was booked into the Citrus County Jail on felony Cause Cruel Death Pain And Suffering.

She was released after posting bail on her $2,000 bond.

PHILLIPS is scheduled to be arraigned on February 22.
