The Nashville Fire Department announced that NFD Investigators arrested 41-year-old MATTHEW RYAN HAWK (pictured below), for intentionally setting a house on fire killing a dog who was left inside.

According to the Department’s Facebook post, on March 8, at around 4:45 p.m., firefighters responded to a home on 509 Cody Hill Court in Nashville, following multiple calls to 911 from people who saw the property burning.

The crew could see smoke from the fire scene from 2 to 3 miles away.

When NFD firefighters arrived at the scene, HAWK was outside and told them that a dog was still inside the flaming home.

Sadly, the furbaby was found lifeless.

NFD Fire Investigators also responded to the scene and their investigation revealed that the fire was incendiary and the result of arson.

The female homeowner on scene told investigators she was separated from HAWK.

Through interviews investigators determined HAWK was the suspected arsonist.

Investigators found burn patterns and holes in the floor of the room where they believe HAWK started the fire.

K9 Spencer with the NFD’s Accelerant Detection searched the scene and alerted the crew to several areas in the home where he detected an accelerant.

Investigators charged HAWK with aggravated animal cruelty, a Class E Felony, and aggravated arson, a Class A Felony.

The filthy murderer is being held on $152,000 bond and is expected to appear in front of Judge Melissa Blackburn on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 9:55 am.
