Laurel County Sheriff John Root announced the arrest of 51-year-old MICHAEL J. WAGERS (pictured below).
Early Saturday morning, April 18, Deputy Justin Taylor and Deputy James Fox responded to a disturbance complaint in a residence off Sasser Road 12 miles east of London.
Deputies made contact with WAGERS who was in the driveway of the home.
According to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, deputies observed that the WAGERS was unsteady on his feet and had an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from him.
Following an investigation, deputies learned there had been a physical altercation between the man and a female who was in the home.
Reportedly, WAGERS grabbed the woman, shoved her, hit her with a closed fist on the side of her head, and then picked up the woman’s pig.
WAGERS squeezed the poor animal with both his hands.
The subject was also found in possession of digital scales coated with a white residue and several used and unused hypodermic syringes.
MICHAEL J. WAGERS was charged with cruelty to animals among other charges and was booked in the Laurel County correctional center.
The sheriff’s Office had made no mention of the well-being of the poor pig.
