Authorities arrested 29-year-old MIGUEL ANGEL ALONSO (pictured below).
On June 3, 2020, the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department responded to the 5300 block of JM Browing Street about an animal abuse report.
An investigation was launched and detectives obtained an arrest warrant for ALONSO for cruelty to livestock animal neglect/overwork.
El Paso Times reports that the nature of the cruelty was not released.
ALONSO surrendered the horse to deputies.
They subsequently placed the animal into the care of Horses Unlimited Rescue organization for medical treatment and rehabilitation.
ALONSO was taken into custody on June 6, 2020, and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
