- Manipur, India -
It’s the 21st century and things like this should not be happening.
On Sunday, August 30, a video went viral on social media showing a male dragging a helpless dog to death.
Within a few hours, the murderer was identified and arrested.
He was identified as 47-year-old MOTILAL THIYAM (pictured below).
I managed to find a video of this killer which shows his face, since news outlets covered it!
The innocent soul was killed and then sold for CONSUMPTION!!!
THIYAM, of Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai, Imphal East, dragged the furbaby for almost 2 km leaving the road stained with the pup’s blood.
News outlets report that “The video was recorded by a concerned citizen who immediately uploaded it on Facebook; later, the video went viral.”
Chairperson Sapna Laishram of Yening Animal Foundation (YAF) said: “Soon after we came to know about the video, we rushed to the spot and found the culprit along with nine other accomplices preparing the dog meat to cook.”
Lamphel Police was immediately alerted.
Manipur Dog Lovers Club wrote in a Facebook post that the guardian of the dog is a relative of THIYAM and he had sold the dog for Rs 6000 ($81).
East Mojo reports that on July 5, Yening Animal Foundation (YAF) has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister N Biren Singh requesting him to pass an ordinance to prevent killing and eating of dogs and to fully implement the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 in the state with immediate effect.
However, Sapna said until now, the state government have not responded to their call.
