The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-years-old MYKEL JACKSON (pictured), after receiving numerous calls about cruelty to animals at his residence.
According to a criminal complaint, on September 2, 2022, a woman reported JACKSON yelling at his dog and then heard the dog yelping. The woman then provided deputies with a voice recording of the incident, but from the recording, deputies were unable to determine whether the dog was yelping or barking.
Between September 2, and September 14, another witness reported that JACKSON struck a puppy for defecating on the bed.
The same witness, then reported that on September 14, JACKSON had “repeatedly struck his dog for no reason.”
On September 26, 2022, the sheriff’s office received four additional reports from witnesses that had heard or saw JACKSON abusing his dogs.
One of the witnesses was even able to provide deputies with an audio about JACKSON beating one of his dogs in his bedroom.
According to the criminal complaint, when an officer described the audio, they said it was about a man yelling followed by many yelps, but they had to “assume” the yelps were coming from a dog.
JACKSON was finally arrested on September 30, 2022, and booked into the North Central Regional Jail for misdemeanor cruelty to animals.
Online records show that JACKSON was released after posting bond.
I have emailed the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office to inquire about the number of dogs involved in this case and I requested additional information about the case.

It appears seven really is the ’lucky’ number for dogs that are forced to live with this vile creature MYKEL JACKSON! Really?! Are the authorities scared of this bully or just don’t give a damn for the safety of the dogs? Then to set the bond low enough that this monster is already out of jail is yet another mistake. I pray these dogs were removed from this house of horror & MYKEL JACKSON is held responsible!
