RIGOBERTO VAZQUEZ-FERRER accused of mutilating chickens for cockfighting in Davidson County

On February 4, 2025, deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Liberty Church Road in Thomasville after receiving a welfare check request for chickens at the residence.


During the investigation, deputies determined that 37-year-old RIGOBERTO VAZQUEZ-FERRER (pictured), was cutting the comb and wattles off of an American Game rooster.


Deputies later determined that several other chickens had the same type of injuries.


According to the press release by the sheriff’s office, VAZQUEZ-FERRER was found to be in direct possession of cockfighting paraphernalia.


Deputies arrested VAZQUEZ-FERRER and transported him to the Davidson County Magistrate’s Office, where he was charged with six felony counts of animal cruelty and two misdemeanor counts of cockfighting paraphernalia. His bond was set at $20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
