59-year-old ROBERT EARL CORLISS (pictured below), was arrested after a witness saw him throwing two kittens out of a moving car.
On Thursday, July 23, CORLISS was driving on Freedom Boulevard in Provo near 50 North when a motorist witnessed him tossing the two furbabies out of the passenger side window of his vehicle.
The witness immediately called 911 and stayed on the phone with dispatchers while following CORLISS.
The caller followed CORLISS to a U.S. Post Office location and was able to get the vehicle’s license plate, and the suspect’s physical description.
Provo Police Department then conducted a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle.
When CORLISS was questioned about the incident, he denied having kittens in his vehicle.
Gephardt Daily reports that the arresting officer stated: “I was able to observe that Corliss had cat hair all over the front of his green T-shirt and when confronted with the information that a witness had observed him throw the kittens out of the passenger side of the vehicle and was able to describe him exactly he continued to deny the allegations.”
The witness agreed to come to the Provo Police Department to fill out a statement.
When police searched the area, they were only able to locate one kitten and sadly, the furbaby was discovered in the road lifeless.
The other kitten was not found.
CORLISS was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of aggravated cruelty to animals.
He walked after posting $1,950 bail.
Many thanks to the person who called 911 to report this act of animal cruelty!!!
