ROBERT JOSEPH LEE arrested after twenty-eight dogs were removed from his home

- North Carolina, USA -

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that on the morning of June 30, deputies with the Animal Control Division responded to a call for service about stray dogs in the area of 2215 Carthage Street near Jefferson Davis Highway.

Once at the scene, deputies learned that the dogs were coming from a property on 2213 Carthage St.

As deputies tried to locate and talk with the dogs’ carer, they noticed that several dogs on the property were housed in an improper manner.

The sheriff’s office did not elaborate on the “improper manner”.

Following a brief investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the property which led to the removal of twenty-eight dogs and the arrest of 59-year-old ROBERT JOSEPH LEE (pictured below).

LEE was booked into the Lee County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond for nine counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty at this time.
