- Nevada, USA -
A ‘man’ who took the life of an innocent dog will not be going to jail.
42-year-old RUSSELL KELLY (pictured below) has been sentenced to 2 ridiculous years of probation on a single charge of felony cruelty to animals.
KELLY has murdered the family dog during a domestic dispute and yet, he was able to negotiate a plea deal.
The murderer will not be allowed to have any pets or own any guns during probation.
~ Original story:
On August 11, 2020, KELLY had gotten into an argument with his wife at their home in the 10500 block of Sun Palace Court, west of Interstate 215 near West Cheyenne Avenue.
During the dispute, KELLY shot the family dog with a 9 mm handgun.
The furbaby, a Pug named Pooka, was laying in her own bed when her precious life was suddenly and senselessly taken.
The couple’s child was also in the room when Pooka was shot.
After the shooting, KELLY’s wife called Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
She told police, the couple were arguing over money and a pyramid scheme.
KELLY told police Pooka had attacked him that evening, but his wife told police that Pooka had only nipped him.
The wife also reported that after KELLY shot Pooka, he told his wife she should be glad she was not the dog.
KELLY then put Pooka in a trash bag and left the home.
He came back a short time later without Pooka.
KELLY was arrested and charged with torturing or killing an animal, two counts of assault domestic violence with use of deadly weapon, and discharging a gun into an occupied structure.
As reported by KTNV, after KELLY was arrested, he gave police a different version of the incident and claimed that Pooka was only wounded, and he used the trash bag to wrap her leg.
KELLY denied threatening his wife.
He also said that he never meant to hurt the dog and that she jumped out of his car when he left the home.
LVMPD spokesperson Aden Ocampo Gomez confirmed Pooka’s lifeless body was found in a park near Cheyenne and the 215.
On August 14, 2020, KELLY appeared in court and a judge set bail at $20,000.
Voice For Us believes that animal abusers should not benefit from the option of negotiating a plea deal.
The precious life of an innocent animal should under NO circumstances be the object of negotiations.
I am furious that this individual murdered an innocent animal with his child in the room and the demented judge did not put him behind bars!
