The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said that on March 28, 2023, deputies responded to a home on Taylor Road in Chocowinity following a request for a welfare check on children living at a residence.
Although the children were found to be safe, deputies discovered dogs in the backyard who appeared to be dead.
The Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation which led to the execution of a search warrant at the property where evidence was collected.
With the assistance of Beaufort County Animal Control, six dogs were also removed from the residence and housed by Animal Control.
Following the investigation, detectives charged 34-years-old SABRINA VICTORIA BLOUNT (pictured), with five counts of Misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals.
On Thursday, March 30, 2023, BLOUNT turned herself in at the Magistrate’s Office and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond set by a Beaufort County Magistrate.
Online court records show that BLOUNT is expected back in court on the morning of Monday, May 1, 2023.
The sheriff’s office said this is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending.
No additional information was released about the dogs.

S. Blount just left five blessed souls dead in her backyard & authorities removed six others? The apathy involved in this act is atrocious. I am praying the voiceless victims removed will find a loving home. I really hate the smiling mugshot. Proves their cruelty is boundless.
