The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is reaching out to the public for assistance to find a suspect who has shot and killed four horses at the Cowboy Trail Rides, a family-run business less than two miles down the road from the Red Rock Conservation.
David Valenta, LVMPD Special Victims Lieutenant in charge of the Animal Cruelty Unit, took his appeal to social media, and uploaded a video showing the suspect who is “actively concealing his identity,” said Lt. Valenta.
Lt. Valenta explained that the four horses have been shot at close range. The first horse was killed in January 2022, the second one in March, then in June, and the most recent one in the early hours of July 4. The shootings are intentional.
In the video and photos, the suspect can be seen wearing a ski mask, gloves and ear protection. The suspect is believed to park in the area and walk into the property and go to the horse corral.
Lieutenant Valenta said in conjunction with the Bureau Land of Management, they are asking the public to watch the videos and if anything seems familiar about the suspect or if you have seen any suspicious vehicle parked in the area, or have any related information, please call LVMPD Animal Cruelty Unit at (702) - 828 - 3364 or email animalcruelty@lvmpd.com.
If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at (702) - 385 - 5555. Thank you!
The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
