~ UPDATE: January 9, 2022

A Bacon County jury added more indictments against TERRI LYNN TAYLOR (pictured below) who faces twelve counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty.

WTOC reports that a judge recently opened the indictments after investigators arrested TAYLOR and a rescue group took possession of 100 animals back in late June.

Bacon County Sheriff Andy Batten told WTOC that prosecutors took the case to the previous grand jury with only the initial charges, but went back to this grand jury with more.

He explained: “A lot of times, they’ll do that. They’ll indict one case and get the process started and once they get to court, they’ll unpack the rest of the case.”

TAYLOR remains free on bond and there is no timetable yet on when she could stand trial.

~ Original story:

On Tuesday, June 29, the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office arrested TERRI LYNN TAYLOR (pictured below), for aggravated cruelty to animals following a lengthy investigation conducted by the Alma/Bacon County Crime Suppression Unit Investigators.

In a news release the sheriff’s office said that the New York-based organization “Guardians of Rescue” assisted with the investigation.

Daily News reports that deputies discovered in TAYLOR’s Alma home the bodies of sixty-four cats and forty-three dogs.

Deputies also discovered twenty live dogs and two live cats.

WTOC reports that deputies went to TAYLOR’s home at the request of a rescue group that had come to get some of the animals she’d taken in as a foster care provider.

According to Daily News, TAYLOR had long worked with different animal organizations and for years she has used her home to foster animals.

The sheriff’s office said that the live animals were placed into the care of the Guardians of Rescue.

As reported by AP News, TAYLOR was released from jail the day after her arrest on $50,000 bail.

Bacon County Sheriff Andy Batten told WTOC that they have two charges against TAYLOR for now but they expect once they meet with the county district attorney’s office to bring several more.
