- Massachusetts, USA -
Mansfield Police rescued three dogs who were left in cars in the parking lot of the Xfinity Center while their guardians were attending the Phish concert.
Police said in a news release that even if the concert began just after 7:00 p.m. the temperature outside was over 80 degrees with high humidity.
“Thanks to alert and compassionate passers-by, officers were able to respond quickly, remove the distressed animals from hot cars that did not have water or adequate ventilation”, stated the release.
The three furbabies, Charlie, Lucky, and Lulu, were transported to Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties in Walpole for evaluation after receiving water and “a seat in front of our cooling fans in the public safety compound”, said the police.
Thankfully, Charlie, Lucky, and Lulu are in good health and are currently residing at the air-conditioned Mansfield Animal Shelter Inn & Suites.
As for their guardians, police did not release their identity but simply said that they will be summonsed to Attleboro District Court on charges of animal cruelty and confining an animal in a MV causing exposure to extreme heat.
Police did not reveal whether the furbabies will be returned to their undeserving guardians.
For the second Phish Show, Mansfield Police had placed two electronic sign boards on S. Main St. and the 495 off-ramp to remind concert-goers that leaving pets in hot cars will not be tolerated! Perhaps the mugshots of these 3 scum should go on those boards instead!

These selfish humans should have been named & shamed. Those three precious souls could have died a horrible death so they could enjoy their concert. I pray Charlie, Lucky, & Lulu will be safe.
