On Tuesday, September 15, 29-year-old ASHLEY RODERICK (pictured below) was back in court in connection with an animal cruelty case involving a dog now named Bogey.

RODERICK withdrew her plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the lesser offense.

She pleaded guilty to prohibitions concerning companion animals, a first-degree misdemeanor.

On December 14, 2019, a 9-month-old dog close to death was surrendered to the Lucas County Pit Crew animal shelter by his guardians.

The pup had been starved to the brink of death.

He was emaciated, dehydrated, had serious infections, and his eyes were ulcerated.

He was so weak he could not even move.

The Lucas County Pit Crew staff named him Bogey.

In connection with this crime, on January 21, 2020, a Lucas County grand jury indicted ASHLEY RODERICK of the 3000 block of Stickney Avenue in Toledo on animal cruelty charges.

On February 10, 2020, RODERICK was arraigned in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on a felony animal cruelty charge.

She entered a not guilty plea and was released on a recognizance bond.

Judge Lindsay Navarre ordered the defendant to get a mental health assessment.

On March 3, 2020, RODERICK was back in court for her pretrial hearing.

RODERICK will be back in court for sentencing on October 27,2020.
