UPDATE: CHARLENE LATHAM pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a dog

- Nottinghamshire, England -

31-year-old CHARLENE LATHAM (pictured below), from Newark but living in Ilfracombe, is one of the most disgusting females I have ever written about.

On November 23, LATHAM appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a dog after tying the furbaby to a rock and throwing her in the River Trent.

On Monday, January 6, 2020, a lady found a dog drowning in the River Trent at Farndon near Newark.

The witness, Ms. Jane Harper (pictured below), was out walking three dogs with her friend Joanne Bellamy when she noticed the furbaby in the river.

The heroic Ms. Harper was able to haul the pup to safety.

Police said the furbaby, a female Belgian Shepherd, had a carrier bag containing a large rock tied to her leash when she was found.

The Daily Mail reports that back then Ms. Harper said: “The water was so murky, I couldn't pull her out. I saw a lead wrapped around her leg, and a blue line that was leading down to something submerged. I got my arm underneath her and tried to lift her up. I imagine she literally fought to get her head above water and managed to rest it on a step. How could anyone do this to her? I don't know how long she had been in the water, but I don't think she could have survived much longer. It was just so cruel.

The RSPCA and Nottinghamshire Police immediately launched a joint investigation.

Speaking at the time, an RSPCA spokesperson said: “We have found the dog was microchipped in 2010 and her name is Bella and she is aged 10.” “Bella is now in the care of a vets having treatment following her ordeal.

It only took a few hours and two despicable individuals were arrested in connection with gut-wrenching case.

Police arrested 32-year-old LEIGH JOHNSON and CHARLENE LATHAM (both pictured) on suspicion of animal cruelty offenses.

LATHAM will be back in court on March 8, 2021, along with LEIGH JOHNSON who denied the charges.

LATHAM in the meantime is out on bail!

Chief Superintendent Rob Griffin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a highly emotive incident that was understandably very shocking to the public.

Chief Griffin, I think I am speaking for many people when I say that it’s even more shocking that this worthless individual is not locked up yet!!! I am appalled that the law allows her to be out there where she does NOT belong!!!

Many thanks again Ms. Harper for saving Bella!
