UPDATE: PETER MARTINELLI finally arrested after he shot and killed a dog he mistook for a coyote

- Connecticut, USA -

Vernon Police have finally arrested 53-year-old PETER MARTINELLI for shooting and killing a neighbor’s dog mistaking the furbaby for a coyote.

According to MARTINELLI, of Bolton Road, in the afternoon of November 3, he was hunting from a tree stand on his 12-acre property, when with the scope on his rifle he saw a deer moving about 50 yards away, but he did not shoot.

The damn hunter then saw what he thought was a coyote trailing the deer and fired his .30-06 rifle.

He later found the animal he had shot, lying lifeless.

According to the warrant “He stated he was completely shocked and unnerved to see that it was a dog.”

The innocent furbaby he killed was an 8-year-old German Shepherd named Karo.

Karo’s mom, Belleann Maffessoli, told The Courant that Karo was outside playing when she heard a gunshot.

Karo did not return home that day and she and her husband searched for him.

Karo was nowhere to be found on their 40-acre property.

The following day, while still looking for Karo, Mrs. Maffessoli went to MARTINELLI’s home, which is several houses down from hers.

The warrant states that MARTINELLI did not tell her he had shot her dog as “he didn’t really know how to handle the situation right away.”

Crimes and lies always come to light and the following day, on November 5, Mrs. Maffessoli found Karo behind MARTINELLI’s home.

At that point, the Maffessolis confronted the lying hunter who finally admitted to the killing.

Police then found that the killer had an up-to-date hunting license (fancy name for murder license), and that he owned the rifle that killed Karo.

Journal Inquirer reports that Mrs. Maffessoli “publicly called for charges last month. Following his arrest, she told the Journal Inquirer that she also wants the state to revoke his hunting license.”

She rightfully said: “I personally don’t think that someone should be able to have the privilege of having a hunting license. It should’ve never happened, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss my best friend and cry.”

As reported by the Journal Inquirer, Vernon Police Lt. William Meier said the revocation of MARTINELLI’s hunting license would be a state decision made by DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection), and he had no information on that matter.

PETER MARTINELLI was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm.

He was released on a promise to appear at Vernon Superior Court on March 17, 2021.

Understandably, Mrs. Maffessoli can’t come to terms with what happened and told FOX 61: “I don't know when it is going to get better; they say it will but it hasn't gotten any better. I look at my husband and I see him crying and I know he is devastated and he looks at me and says Belleann I am crying because I see how much it has hurt you... My heart is ripped out and I feel it was malicious.”

Please, do not leave your furbabies out of your sight.

Not everyone out there is a decent human being!

We should be free to allow our furbabies to run and play outside and then expect them back, but hunters and animal abusers have deprived us of that freedom!

Damn hunters! Why don’t you shoot each other and hang each other on your damn walls!
