- Oklahoma, USA -
The Elk City Police Department arrested 59-years-old WILBERT LEE BREWER JR. (pictured), after two Pitbulls were found abandoned on his property.
According to the affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, on April 13, 2022, Elk City Police Officers conducted an authorized search warrant on BREWER’s residence located at 207 Parkview Place, in Elk City.
The search led to the discovery of two dogs in the backyard of the property.
Officers found one female Pitbull black in color, who “appeared to be extremely aggressive toward Officers, not in good health, and to have only one eye.”
The other Pitbull, a male gray brindle in color, eventually became friendly, but was covered in ticks.
Officers reported that the backyard was completely covered in dog feces to the point that Officer Brad believed it to be “unhealthy” for the dogs. There was no sign of food or water for the furbabies.
At the time of the search, BREWER was not present and according to neighbors, “it was believed he was seen leaving the residence with a U-Haul style box truck.”
The following day, on April 14, 2022, Elk City Animal Control Officers were dispatched to the area of Braum's, directly behind BREWER’s home, about a female Pitbull who was being aggressive toward citizens.
According to the affidavit, due to the Pitbull’s aggressive behavior, animal control requested the assistance of Elk City Police and it was determined that the Pitbull was BREWER’s but officers were unable to contact him.
The female Pitbull was later taken to a vet where she was euthanized on April 16, 2022.
The veterinarian’s report obtained by Voice For Us stated: “On 4/16/2022 I observed the black female pitbull and observed a case of Entropion in both eyes, including possible severe conjunctivitis & corneal ulcers. This causing the Canine to experience major discomfort and excessive eye drainage. Due to the canine's aggressive behavior and condition causing discomfort I was unable to handle/treat this canine and it was euthanized to prevent suffering.”
On April 16, 2022, Elk City Animal Control Officer Stone went to BREWER’s residence and provided the male Pitbull with food and water. As indicated in the affidavit, “At that date there did not appear to have been any care provided to the dog by Brewer or any other acting on his behalf.”
On the morning of April 19, 2022, Elk City Police requested a follow up on the possibly abandoned male Pitbull at BREWER’s home.
The officer who went to BREWER’s residence said the furbaby looked that he was still being neglected and took pictures of the backyard showing no signs of food or water for him.
Animal control took custody of the male Pitbull whom they renamed Tank and according to his Kennel Card, his date of birth is October 18, 2018.
The affidavit stated that based on all the evidence gathered and the vet’s findings, police believed that probable cause existed that BREWER committed the following crimes:
“Cruelty To Animals Title 21 1685 (1) Willfully/maliciously, by abandoning; (2) caused; (3) any animal in captivity, by confining to the back yard area of the residence; (4) (to be) tortured/maimed/(deprived of necessary food, drink, or shelter), by not providing any available food, water, or shelter. And the yard area to be left covered in animal feces and in an unhealthy environment. Also both dogs were not provided necessary medical care, which caused both to be covered in ticks. The male brindle to getting worms and the female, black in color, reaching such an unhealthy stated, which led to her having to be euthanized.”
BREWER was arrested on September 11, 2022, and is scheduled to be in court on October 22, 2022.
I have also contacted the Beckham County District Attorney's Office and requested additional information and pictures about the female Pitbull.
I will post an update should I receive a response.

That poor female pit bull could not see, was abandoned & starved. Evidently no one in Oklahoma has any patience so this blessed soul was euthanized. RIP BEAUTIFUL SOUL. As for the male pit bull, Tank, I pray they have enough patience to help him through what must be a horrible life. Now, to address the soulless monster 59-years-old WILBERT LEE BREWER JR., I hope they afford you the same patience they afforded the female you cruelly abandoned you filthy human.
