WILLIAM PETTY shot and killed two innocent dogs following an argument with his fiancée

- Florida, USA -

Volusia Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 49-year-old WILLIAM PETTY (pictured below).

A Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office recounts that on the afternoon of Saturday, December 5, deputies responded to a residence at the Dayton Park Estates area of DeLand about two dogs who had been shot.

PETTY was at home and had gotten into an argument with his fiancée.

Following the argument, PETTY loaded up two of their dogs and according to the report, he told his 16-year-old son they were going to Lowe’s.

His son was visiting with his father for the weekend.

Instead, PETTY drove to a wooded area off the 1400 block of 12th Avenue in DeLand.

At the scene, PETTY then shot in the head one the two furbabies, a female Catahoula mix named Wheezy.

After that, he handed the revolver to his son.

PETTY told him to shoot in the head the other dog, a male Dachshund named Mason.

The teenager fired a shot in the ground.

PETTY then took the gun back, shot the furbaby in the head, and then threw the bodies of both babies in the woods as if their lives did not matter.

After that, PETTY drove to Lowe’s and then back home.

When PETTY’s fiancée asked him where the dogs were, he told her they had run away.

Click Orlando reports that the son left the home and went to his girlfriend’s who lives nearby.

From there, he called his mother asking her to pick him up and told her what had just happened.

The teen’s mom is the one who called the Sheriff’s Office.

A warrant for PETTY’s arrest was issued as he could not be located after the killing.

PETTY was arrested on Sunday, December 6.

The murderer was charged with two counts of felony cruelty to animals, two counts of unlawful disposal of a dead domestic animal, child abuse and carrying a concealed weapon in the commission of a felony.

According to the Sheriff’s office, he was still in custody without bond Monday morning at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Volusia County Animal Services officers took custody of both deceased dogs.

In a Tweet, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised his deputies “for locking up this scumbag dog killer” and wrote: “How a man could do this to 2 defenseless dogs is beyond understanding.”
