Mr. Anil Prabhakar is an amateur photographer.
While he was on a safari with friends at a conservation forest run by the nonprofit Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS), he captured a heartwarming moment of a critically endangered ape stretching his hand out to help a man standing in a river.
Mr. Prabhakar later found out that the man works for the nonprofit that protects these stunning animals from hunters.
As part of the protective project, the warden was clearing away snakes to guard the orangutans.
Reportedly, someone told him there was a snake in the water, so he went in to clear the bushes.
The generous ape must have thought that human was in danger and offered his help.
What pictures do not show, is that the man refused help and moved away.
Metro reports that the photographer asked him why and the man responded: “It’s a wild animal, not one we are familiar with.”
He added: “But they are to protect them.”
The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation was founded in 1991.
