The Corinth Police Department arrested JONATHAN HURST (pictured), former Corinth City’s sewer department employee, and his fiancée SONDRA BULLARD.
Police were tipped by a neighbor about malnourished dogs at a home on Pleasant Grove Road and officers responded to investigate.
Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter was also at the scene to assist the police (Video).
Officers found several malnourished dogs inside and outside the home. Sadly, one puppy was found deceased “and scavenged by the other dogs”, reports Mississippi Today.
Twenty-seven (27) dogs of varying ages were found without food and water and among dirty conditions.
The furvictims were malnourished and sick and many of them had diseases and parasites.
HURST, the homeowner, was arrested on July 28, 2024, and BULLARD a few days later.
They are facing twenty-seven MISDEMEANOR counts of animal cruelty. No charges filed for the dead Voiceless Victim!
At their bond hearings at the Corinth Municipal Court, both pleaded not guilty and were released on personal recognizance. They are scheduled back in court for November 4, 2024.
According to Mississippi Today, HURST was fired on August 6, 2024, but Mayor Ralph Dance said the termination was unrelated to the animal neglect case. Reportedly, HURST was terminated due to issues related to his employment.
I took the liberty of naming the deceased furvictim Blossom for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.
