- Massachusetts, USA -
A distressing incident of animal cruelty which was thankfully caught on camera led to the arrest of 30-years-old KIMBERLY HERNANDEZ (pictured).
The incident happened on the early morning of Friday, December 29, 2023, on Westford Street in Lowell and Boston 25 News obtained the graphic videos of the abuse inflicted on a defenseless Yorkshire Terrier named Rex.
The videos were discovered by a property manager while reviewing footage for auto accidents.
One video shows HERNANDEZ “cornering the dog and kicking it a second time before the frightened pet runs off. If that’s not bad enough, the abuse gets worse”, reports the news agency. In a second video, HERNANDEZ “finds the dog after it ran off. You can see her reach inside her car and grab the pup by the collar, then she walks to the side of the house. She’s later seen on video flinging the dog. In a third video you can see the woman after she flung the dog. She comes into frame and corals it into the house as the terrified pup runs inside.”
HERNANDEZ was charged with two counts of animal cruelty and on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, she appeared in Lowell District Court where she pleaded not guilty.
According to Boston 25 News, officials said HERNANDEZ “admitted to them that she had been drinking the night of the incident and that she reached a boiling point before the alleged animal abuse.”
Prosecutors said when the video was shown in court, HERNANDEZ became emotional.
A judge released this filthy woman on a $5,000 bail.
HERNANDEZ was ordered to surrender any animals and to not have contact with any others.
Animal control took custody of Rex and took him to the Westford Veterinary Emergency Center.
7News Boston reports that Rex is now with a foster family.
