GRETA L. ANDERSON arrested and thirty-one animals removed from a Washoe County property

Washoe County Regional Animal Services announced the arrest of 72-years-old GRETA L. ANDERSON (pictured) following an investigation they launched back in October.

 

In a media release, the agency said that the investigation began on October 16, 2023, after animal welfare concerns were brought to their attention.

 

After obtaining and executing a search warrant on a property in Washoe County, authorities were able to remove five (5) horses and twenty-six (26) dogs.

 

Washoe County Regional Animal Services said: “The animals were found to be living in a variety of unacceptable physical and environmental conditions and were promptly removed to ensure their safety and well-being” but no additional details were disclosed.

 

As the investigation progressed, a warrant was then issued for the arrest of ANDERSON, identified as the animals’ guardian. She was placed under arrest on December 27, 2023, and booked into the Washoe County Jail on two felony counts of willful/malicious torture and maiming or killing an animal, and two misdemeanor counts of failing to provide food/water/air for a confined animal.

 

Washoe County Regional Animal Services are currently housing all the furvictims.

Records show that ANDERSON is no longer in custody.

Puppy found abandoned trapped in a plastic box in a Walmart parking lot in North Las Vegas

After hearing back from the North Las Vegas Police Department, I learned that the case is being investigated.

Crazy4Pawz Animal Rescue in Henderson opened its doors to a new furvictim.


On September 20, 2023, a puppy was found abandoned in the parking lot of a Walmart in North Las Vegas near Losee and Ann Road, reports FOX5.


Shamar Shapiro, one of the store workers, was about to leave work for the night when he saw a crowd of people outside, so he went to check what was going on.

Shamar saw a black plastic box with a closed yellow lid. From one of the holes of the lid, a nose was poking out. Shamar looked inside the box and found a puppy. He knew what to do because he has been rescuing animals all his life. Shamar called his mom and together they took the furbaby to the vet.


Next, they reached out to Crazy4Pawz Animal Rescue. The nonprofit named the 3-month-old puppy Sammy.

Lynda Delahunt, founder of Crazy4Pawz Animal Rescue, explained in a Facebook post that Sammy “has 20 days left on his stray hold.” Meanwhile, he was microchipped, he’s up to date with his vaccinations, and found a foster home. Lynda added that Sammy will be neutered “once he is old enough and his 🥜 have fully dropped 😜.”


The family who will adopt Sammy needs to be patient and willing to provide Sammy with training, explained Lynda. She said: “Sammy is super smart, kind, loving and right now is a wild child 🤣. He is going to be a large dog, so training is essential!”

DEBORAH HAGEN arrested – Her dog died, tied outside in extreme heat with no food, water, or shelter

On the afternoon of Friday, July 21, 2023, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police received a call about a dog who had died at a mobile home at the Silverado Mobile Home Park on 3401 N. Walnut Road near North Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue.


Police officers who responded to the location, met with Clark County Animal Protection Services officers who advised that they also received multiple reports from neighbors saying they had seen the dog, who appeared to be dead, tied to the porch stairway of the home. Residents said the dog did not appear to have any food, water, or shelter.


According to FOX5, officers found “a black trash bag in the front yard with a leash laying outside of it and could smell a dead animal.”


Officers made contact with 55-years-old DEBORAH HAGEN (pictured) who identified herself as the dog’s guardian. The furbaby was a 10-year-old female 45-pound Scottish terrier named Abby.


HAGEN told officers that she had left Abby tied outside to use the restroom the day before. After tying Abby, HAGEN went inside the home and fell asleep.


News3 reports that HAGEN told officers “she regularly kept Abby outside because of the way her roommate scolded the dog, but she said she was unaware there was an excessive heat warning in place.” Police said on that Friday the temperature in Las Vegas reached 114 degrees. Furthermore, an excessive heat warning was in effect that week.

According to News3, HAGEN “claimed Abby had access to food, water and shade by going under the porch.” Officers, however, reported that Abby’s leash was not long enough to allow her to get under the porch. Moreover, the two bowls under there were empty.


HAGEN was placed under arrest on one felony count of willful or malicious killing of an animal.

Records show she was released the following day after posting bond. A condition of her release is that she is barred from “possessing” any animals. She is expected to be back in court on August 17, 2023.
