The Phoenix Police Department arrested 35-years-old DANDREA A. PRICE and her brother, 45-years-old BARRY LEMORE KEE on fifty-six (56) animal cruelty charges.

According to a news release by Phoenix Police, on November 16, 2023, police were in the area of 7th Street and Mountain View Road, just west of Cave Creek Road, in reference to a stolen vehicle report. Officers started chasing the suspects on foot and establishing a perimeter.

At one point, while looking for the suspects, officers looked into the backyard of a local residence and they saw multiple dogs chained up.

Police said all the dogs appeared to be extremely malnourished and were in bad living conditions.

Humane Society responded to the scene and removed a total of eight dogs who were in need of “immediate medical attention”, said police.

In a reel published on the Phoenix Police Department Facebook page, officers can be seen giving the Voiceless Victims fresh water and an officer can be heard saying: “No food, no water. I can’t believe this counts as shelter.”

The following day, police arrested PRICE and KEE and both were booked into the Maricopa County Jail. Online records show the siblings are no longer in custody.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark J. Dannels announced that 62-years-old KAREN BLACK is charged with animal cruelty for heartlessly abandoning her elderly, visually impaired dog along a highway last month.

In a media release Sheriff Dannels said that on the morning of Saturday, August 26, 2023, he and his wife Nickie spotted a skinny dog in the area of I-10 and Skyline Road in Benson walking down the exit ramp.

Sheriff Dannels and Mrs. Dannels put the “shaken” furbaby safely in their vehicle.

A Cochise County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Officer took custody of the Voiceless Victim and learned through his microchip that his last registered guardian, BLACK, was in Phoenix, Maricopa County. The ACO attempted to call BLACK several times and left many messages that were never answered.

On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Sheriff Dannels and Community Outreach Supervisor, Sergeant Ray McNeely went to Phoenix to attend a community event. Sheriff Dannels is very passionate about these kinds of cases and he did not want to give up. So, after the event, he took a detour and followed up on this investigation in an attempt to locate BLACK.

The sheriff was able to track down the cruel female at her home.

When BLACK was interviewed, she first lied claiming that she never was in Cochise County. As stated in the media release, BLACK then “finally admitted to leaving the dog alongside I-10 including failing to notify law enforcement and ignoring our attempts to reach out to her.”

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office tells me that BLACK was issued a citation and is scheduled to appear in Benson Justice Court at the end of this month.

With regard to the Voiceless Victim, the sheriff’s office told me in an email that the dog is a male named Henry and BLACK adopted him from Maricopa County Animal Control. Henry was listed as being 10 years old “(however he appears older perhaps 13ish).” As for Henry’s breed, I was told that he is “best described as a chihuahua/min-pin mix.”

In the media release, Sheriff Dannels said that the dog “is being held at a shelter until the criminal case is adjudicated.”

A spokesperson for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office tells me that “Henry is doing well and we are working on getting him into foster care now so he can be removed from the shelter environment.”

Phoenix Police are investigating after a female dog was found with her muzzle and front legs duct-taped at a parking lot of a church in north Phoenix.

Officers were called to an area near 37th Avenue and Sweetwater on the morning of Wednesday, July 27, and immediately called in the Arizona Humane Society. One of its investigators, Dan McGrath, responded to the scene and told reporter David Caltabiano: “The dog was a little dehydrated, fearful, confused, um, just you know, did not what was going on.”

McGrath explained that the furbaby, described as a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain dog mix, was struggling to get around. She was in distress and was found hopping on her front legs.

The dog was taken to the Humane Society’s Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital for immediate care and the Arizona Humane Society said that at the moment her prognosis is “guarded.”

Kelsey Dickerson, with the AHS said: “We are giving her the best care possible because obviously this is, even though this is a very sad and horrible story, we wanna to make sure to be able to try to give her a second chance and a good life because that’s what every animal deserves.”

Police do not know at this point whether the furbaby is homeless or has a guardian and have not released her picture.

If you have any information about this sickening case, please, come forward and speak up for the VOICELESS VICTIM. Call Phoenix Police at: (602) - 262 - 6151. Thank you!
